Sun Downs completes second weekend

Ms Red Ransom ridden by Jose Madrigal took Sunday’s top prize at the Sun Downs horse racing meet, winning the 350-yard Derby race at Benton County Fairgrounds.

Ransom took home $1,815 of the $3,330 purse and paid $8 to win. Nita B Luck and Ruben Camacho finished second, with Shimmie Horn and Louis Zacherle third.

The longshot of the day came in the starter allowance in the final race. Stormello Fello and Jake Samuels paid $13.80 to win, finishing ahead of The Bien’s Gift with Connie Doll aboard.

Madrigal rode Klassic Secret Br to a win in a $2,000 allowance race and paid $9.40. Miner’s Wine with Samuels and Ghost of Navigator with Camacho won a pair of maiden special weight races.

Kassie Guglielmino rode Epic Cast to a win in the seventh race. Quematierras with Madrigal and Sheelfly for Gold with Zacherle won a pair of claiming races.

On Saturday, Eyes Movin won an 880-yard quarter horse allowance in the seventh race with Samuels aboard, pulling away from Rockinatthebar ridden by Zacherle.

Zacherle rode On a Power High to victory in a 350-yard allowance in the sixth race and paid $11.40 to win. Enriques Miracle and Madrigal won the maiden race in the fifth.

The six claiming races were won by: Quattro Dude (Zacherle), Isle Challenge (Guglielmino), Discover Adorable (Samuels), Sea Harbor Go (Felimon Alvarado), Swiss Exploit (Guglielmino) and Yoh Rocko (Samuels).
