Mid-Columbia sports briefs for Tuesday, March 22

Jake Haffner of Benton City has signed to play tennis for California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks.
The Kingsmen, who signed Haffner on Monday — his 18th birthday — compete at the NCAA Division III level.
Haffner, who is home schooled, is ranked 12th in Washington in U-18. He plays year round in the USTA circuit and practices regularly at Columbia Basin Racquet Club.
Americans’ Bowles makes ECHL debut with Nailers
Former Tri-City American Parker Bowles made his debut with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL) on Tuesday. Bowles did not have any points or penalties in the Nailers’ 4-0 victory over the Toledo Walleye.
Also moving up after the end of the Americans’ season were Brandon Carlo to the Providence Bruins (AHL) and Parker Wotherspoon to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL).
