WSU baseball falls to Northeastern
Former Kennewick High School standout Trek Stemp, whose 11-game hitting streak ended Sunday, singled and scored a run, but Washington State lost to Northeastern 5-3 in the opener of a four-game series in Pullman.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning, but Northeastern (7-5) took the lead against WSU (4-9) with a homer in the fourth. The Huskies added a run in the ninth.

Prosser football team honored by state legislators
The Prosser Mustangs won the Class 2A state football title in December, but the recognition for their achievement continued Thursday at the state Capitol.
On the final day of the 2016 regular session, state lawmakers unanimously adopted House Resolution 4680, which “recognizes and honors the Prosser High School Mustangs football team for its outstanding accomplishment and storied past of excellence in football.”
Coach Corey Ingvalson, who played on Prosser’s 1999 state championship squad, and members of the team came to Olympia and watched lawmakers vote on the measure.
Reps. Maureen Walsh, R-Walla Walla, and Terry Nealey, R-Dayton, spearheaded the effort.
“This is an impressive group of young men, and we are all proud of their accomplishments,” Walsh said. “I’m so thankful they took the time to come to Olympia today to be recognized for their hard work and dedication.”
