Spaeth set the record of 11,101.2 pounds (5,035.42 kilograms) at RAB Fitness on Aug. 15.

“Joshua got the idea to attempt the record when he almost broke it in competition the previous year,” the Guinness website said.

Stemp went 4-for-5 and scored WSU’s only run in a 3-1 loss to UT Rio Grande Valley on Thursday at the Al Ogletree Classic.

Stemp, who has had a hit in every game this season, leads WSU (2-4) with a .417 batting average (10-for-24).

Swimming

Seattle University senior Nick Connors (Richland) finished second in the “C” final and 18th overall in the men’s 500-yard freestyle Thursday at the WAC Swimming & Diving Championships in Houston.
