Columbia Cup honored as top H1 series race site

For the second consecutive year, the Tri-Cities Water Follies HAPO Columbia Cup was selected the top race site of the year by the H1 Unlimited Hydroplane series.

Water Follies past president Mike Denslow and event director Kathy Powell were on hand to receive the award at the H1 Unlimited annual awards banquet in Seattle, along with board members Jeff Groce, Jim Powers and Chuck Keltch.

Voting was done by boat owners and fans, prompting Denslow to say, “That’s what makes this such a huge compliment.”

“We are one big family: our volunteers, leadership, sponsors, community and H1,” Denslow continued. “We are all dedicated to organizing the best event possible.”

The 2016 Hapo Columbia Cup is slated for July 29-31.
