Heza Dasha Fire lost the rubber match against rival Moonist in Sunday night’s Grade 1 Los Alamitos (Calif.) Winter Championship.

Heza Dasha Fire, owned by Don and Kathy Meneely’s S-Quarter K LLC, finished second to Moonist in the $139,700 stakes race after the two Quarter Horses exchanged victories in recent months.

After a 2015 campaign that saw the gelding dominate the American Quarter Horse Association awards, Heza Dasha Fire will take a rest until spring, joining half-brother Ima Fearless Hero that is recovering from arthroscopic surgery.

Meanwhile, the Kennewick couple has a pair of 2-year-olds they hope will have breakout seasons: Heza Famous Dasher and Sheza Famous Chick.
