Kamiakin’s Sorensen says he’ll play at Portland State
Kamiakin senior offensive lineman Korbin Sorensen tweeted Friday night that he will be going to Portland State University.
The tweet read: “Proud to announce the future of my education and football will be at Portland State University! #RollViks.”
The 6-foot-6, 275-pound Sorensen also received scholarship offers from Idaho and Montana State.
Sorensen received Mid-Columbia Conference, Tri-City Herald All-Area and Associated Press Class 3A state first-team honors last season. He also appeared on The (Tacoma) News Tribune All-State team.
Richland’s Morris named to preseason all-region team
Montana State-Billings senior Corey Morris (Richland) was selected as a National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II preseason first-team all-West Region shortstop.
Morris, who joined the Yellowjackets last season from Walla Walla Community College, started 40 games and ranked third on the team with his .353 batting average. He had an on-base percentage of .406, and committed one error in his final 20 games.
Last spring, Montana State-Billings won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference regular-season title with a 22-10 record and went 27-23 overall. The Yellowjackets begin the 2016 season Feb. 12.
Waitsburg’s Deal makes Frontier All-Academic team
Lewis-Clark State College cross country runner Seth Deal (Waitsburg) was named to the Frontier Conference All-Academic team.
Deal is a junior majoring in accounting.
To be recognized on the team, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.0 grade-point average and have been enrolled the previous two semesters.
