Richland’s Turner leads Lewis-Clark State to hoops win
Hailey Turner (Richland) had 17 points and eight rebounds to lead the Lewis-Clark State women’s basketball team to a 77-68 Frontier Conference road win over the University of Great Falls on Friday.
Former Columbia Basin College player Morgan Grier finished with 11 points for Great Falls.
On Saturday, Turner scored eight points and five rebounds in a 71-51 win over Montana State-Northern in Havre, Mont.
Mid-Col athletes deliver for EWU track & field
Eastern Washington University’s Kaytlyn Coleman (Kennewick) won the women’s weight throw (62 feet, 8 1/2 inches) and finished seventh in the shot (45-9 3/4) Saturday at the University of Washington Preview.
Katie Mahoney (Richland) was 20th (9 minutes, 43.75 seconds) in the 3,000 meters, posting a school record that lasted until Sarah Reiter finished in 9:39.19 some 15 minutes later. Freshman Samantha Raines (Kamiakin) qualified for the Big Sky championships in hte pole vault (12-0 1/2)
Freshman Larry Still (Richland) finished 11th in the pole vault at 15-9 1/4. His mark ranks fifth all-time at EWU.
Aaron Cunningham (Hanford) was 10th in the shot (51-4 1/4) and 13th in the weight throw (46-10 3/4).
Jones keys Gonzaga women at Idaho
Maggie Jones (Richland) won the mile in 5 minutes, 14.33 seconds and was second in the 3,000 meters (10:11.65) for the Gonzaga women’s track & field team at the Vandal Invitaional in Moscow.
