Thursday’s local roundup: Hanford’s Myers shines in boys swimming

Hanford’s Brady Myers opened the season by winning the 50-yard freestyle and 50 butterfly, finishing third in the 50 breaststroke and swimming on the third-place 200 free relay in the Moses Lake Pentathlon on Thursday.

Richland’s Conor McShane was second in the 50 breast, and the Bombers were runners-up to Wenatchee in the 200 free relay.

Wrestling

The Best of the West wrestling tournament is in need of volunteers Dec. 18-19 at Pasco High School.

Volunteers are needed in different capacities, along with those who would like to donate food for the coaches/referee room. The event runs from 9 a.m.-9 p.m. the first day, and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. the second day.

▪ Most of the Mid-Columbia Conference season openers were postponed Thursday because of the bad weather.

Kennewick at Chiawana, Pasco at Richland, and Walla Walla at Kamiakin will all be rescheduled.

Rodeo

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) named The Pendleton Round-Up as the 2015 Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year. The prestigious honor is determined by a vote of the PRCA’s members.

“Coupled with winning the Remuda Award for the most consistent and even bucking stock; winning the Large Outdoor Rodeo of the Year has made 2015 a truly outstanding success,” outgoing Pendleton Round-Up PresidentBill Quesenberry, said in a press release.
