CBC, WWCC women on a roll in East Region play
The Columbia Basin College women’s basketball team is steamrolling the competition this season.
Alexis Castro had 17 points, and Aspen Fiander (Kennewick) added 16 as the Hawks beat Spokane 64-48 on the road Wednesday in East Region action.
It was the 13th consecutive win for CBC (15-4), which leads the East standings at 6-0.
The Hawks raced out to a 21-11 lead after the first quarter and never let up.
Sara Ramirez (Hermiston) added seven points and 10 rebounds for CBC, while Castro had eight assists, six rebounds and four steals.
Jessica Olson led Spokane (10-6, 1-4) with 18 points.
WWCC WOMEN 101, NORTH IDAHO 89: The Warriors eclipsed the 100-point mark for the first time this season in a 101-89 road win over the Cardinals in East Region play.
In a close game, WWCC (17-1, 5-0) pulled away in the fourth quarter with a 30-21 run to run its win streak to 15 games.
Cierra Jo McKeown (Touchet) led all scorers with 31 points, along with six rebounds and six assists. Jade Skidmore added 22 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists. Taylor Turner (Columbia-Burbank) added nine points and six rebounds.
WWCC MEN 85, NORTH IDAHO 82: The Warriors overcame a 10-point halftime deficit with a 47-34 run in the second half to beat the Cardinals on the road in East Region action.
Landon Radliff (Richland) led all scorers with 31 points, while Damon Thacker added 16 points and six rebounds for WWCC (14-4), which is tied atop the East with Spokane at 4-1.
RayQuan Evans led North Idaho with 27 points and 12 rebounds.
SPOKANE MEN 108, CBC 54: The Sasquatch led 53-26 at the half and cruised to an East Region victory over the visiting Hawks.
CBC’s starting five combined for just nine points. The Hawks were led by reserves Levi Noethe with 16 points, and Josh Brantley with 15 points and seven rebounds.
Cesar Sandoval and Lamar Harris each had 17 points for Spokane, with Harris also hauling down 11 rebounds.
Bowling
CHIAWANA 3, KENNEWICK 1: The Lions won the first game before the Riverhawks stormed back to take the next three en route to a Mid-Columbia Conference victory at Spare Time Lanes.
Miranda Verduzco had a 174 in the first game to lead Chiawana, while Ziera Barrios had a team-high 190 in the second game.
Viviana Miranda rolled a 166 in the first game for Kennewick, while freshman Skye Wheatly had a 187 in the second.
