The Dallas Cowboys booted his boss. But Prosser’s Kellen Moore still has plenty of options
Prosser High graduate Kellen Moore potentially lost his Dallas Cowboys offensive coordinator job this week when Cowboys owner Jerry Jones decided not to keep head coach Jason Garrett.
Jones has decided to hire Mike McCarthy — former head coach of the Green Bay Packers – as the new Cowboys head coach.
Usually, a new head coach brings in his own staff.
But Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network tweeted Monday that McCarthy likes Moore and is open to keeping him on staff.
ESPN also has said that Moore is on the short list for the University of Washington’s offensive coordinator position.
Under Moore’s watch this past season — his first as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator — Dallas had the top-ranked offense in the National Football League, and the No. 2 passing offense.
Moore grew up in Prosser and led the Mustangs to a state title in 2007. He went on to be a star player for Boise State University, where he was inducted into the school’s hall of fame.
He played six years in the NFL, including playing for the Cowboys from 2015 to 2017 before retiring to join the coaching staff.
Last February, Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott told a radio station in Dallas that Moore is “honestly one of these young genius phenoms in the game.”
