Dust Devils pile up runs to win rare day game
G.K. Young doubled, homered and drove in three runs, and the Tri-City Dust Devils used a big seventh inning to fuel an 8-6 win over the host Everett AquaSox in a rare Northwest League day game Tuesday.
Young’s one-out, two-run blast ignited a four-run seventh inning that propelled the Dust Devils (16-16) into the lead. Josh Magee and Aldemar Burgos capped a run of four straight singles with RBI hits as Tri-City took an 8-4 lead and turned the game over to the bullpen.
Dust Devils starter Emmanuel Ramirez (4-1) was solid for six innings, giving up seven hits, four runs and a walk while striking out seven. Evan Miller came on and struggled in the seventh as Everett (16-16) got two of the runs back. But Jesse Scholtens slammed the door shut, giving up one hit for a two-inning save.
Chris Baker doubled twice hitting in front of Young in the lineup as Tri-City piled up 13 hits, six for extra bases.
The Dust Devils play one more game in Everett on Wednesday before returning home for a five-game set against the Hillsboro Hopps.
