Tri-City Dust Devils

Dust Devils muster 3 hits in 5-4 loss to Everett

The Tri-City Dust Devils took advantage of some early wildness by Everett pitchers but couldn’t get the hits late in a 5-4 loss to the AquaSox in Northwest League baseball Sunday evening.

The Dust Devils managed just three hits and never threatened after the fifth inning. It capped an eight-game road trip to Hillsboro and Everett during which Tri-City went 3-5 against two of the top three teams in the NWL during the second half. The AquaSox are a likely playoff opponent for the Dust Devils, who won the first-half North Division title.

Tri-City scored three runs in the second inning for a 3-1 lead, exploiting a pair of walks in front of Austin Allen’s triple. Allen came around on Kodie Tidwell’s single to center, but the Dust Devils managed just one hit the rest of the game.

After Tri-City scored again in the top of the frame, Everett pulled even in the bottom on two bases-loaded walks and a sacrifice fly. The go-ahead run came home on a two-out single in the fifth.
