Tri-City Dust Devils

Dust Devils 7, Hawks 3: Tri-City wins rubber match over Boise

Robbie Podorsky, Matthew Batten and Tre Carter each had three hits and two RBIs to lead the Tri-City Dust Devils to a 7-3 win over the Boise Hawks on Monday night in the rubber match of a five-game series at Gesa Stadium.

Tri-City (7-5 second half, 27-23 overall), trailing the Spokane Indians by two games in the second-half Northwest League North Division standings, began a three-game series on the road against the Vancouver Canadians on Tuesday.

Left-hander Mick Margevicius — the San Diego Padres’ seventh round pick in this year’s MLB Draft — picked up his second win in as many starts for the Dust Devils by firing five innings of two-hit, shutout ball.

He got plenty of run support as Tri-City tacked on five runs in the third inning and two more in the fourth to take a 7-0 lead. Batten hit a two-run single and Carter an RBI triple in the third, and Podorsky smacked a run-scoring double in the fourth.
