Betsy Haffner of Kennewick, who is battling stage four breast cancer, was the Mariners’ honorary bat girl May 15 as part of Major League Baseball’s annual campaign to raise support and awareness for the fight against breast cancer.

Haffner also threw out the ceremonial first pitch and took part in pregame activities.

Haffner was nominated by her son Eric as a way to “honor her for her courage and bravery.”
