Outlaws shut out in final World Series game
Hunter Shepherd pitched 7 great innings for Rowan County and handed the Kennewick Outlaws a 12-0 loss in their final game of the American Legion World Series Sunday in Shelby, N.C.
The Outlaws (54-17) lost all three of their pool play games at the World Series, while Rowan County (40-13) needed the win to move to 2-1 and guarantee a spot in Monday’s semifinal round.
Rowan County’s Trevor Atwood was a menace at the plate as he went 3-for-3 with a double, an RBI and two runs scored. Shepherd and Lee Poteat drove in three runs a piece.
Dillon Plew went 2-for-4 and played solid defense at shortstop and first base for the Outlaws.
