Pac-Coast Championships: Chiawana’s Abzael Loeza finished second at 220 in the Vancouver tournament, losing to Prairie’s Dallas Goodpaster 4-1 in the championship.
It was a matchup of state veterans, as Loeza qualified for state last year and Goodpaster took fourth.
The Riverhawks, who tied for 10th in the team standings, had an abundance of riches at 220, with Levi McBride placing fifth as a nonscoring wrestler. He scored a pair of impressive consolation victories — 9-0 and third-period pin — and won his placing match 1-0.
Chiawana’s Christian Segura at 113 and Tyler Vargas at 170 also placed fifth. Segura was injured in his semifinal match and had to default in his final two matches. Nathan Bengen (106) and Jacob Garcia (138) each placed seventh.
