Wrestling: Best of the West starts Friday in Pasco

The Best of the West tournament begins at 9 a.m. Friday at Pasco High.

The team dual tournament runs today, while the individual tourney is set for Saturday.

There are 25 teams scheduled to compete today, with mostly three-team pods scheduled in preliminary matches.

Here are the pods:

Pod 1 — Mt. View, Newberg, Ore., and Southridge;

Pod 2 — Heritage, Kamiak and Selah;

Pod 3 — Connell, Prairie and Priest River, Idaho;

Pod 4 — Hermiston, Pasco and Washougal;

Pod 5 — Battle Ground, Royal and Wenatchee;

Pod 6 — Centralia, Kiona-Benton and Walla Walla;

Pod 7 — Kamiakin, Mount Si and Wahluke;

Pod 8 — Clarkston, Evergreen, Richland and West Salem.

The pod winners will advance in a single-elimination format to determine the dual-team champion.
