WRESTLING: Del Angel captures Bob Mars title
Cruz Del Angel, Kiona-Benton’s two-time unbeaten state champ, got his season off to a good start by winning the 182-pound title with an 8-5 victory Saturday over Pyper McCallum of Pendleton in the Bob Mars Memorial at Kennewick.
Southridge’s Bryce Overholt won the title at 195 with a 19-second pin of River View’s Ruvim Tyutyunnik. Kennewick’s Todd Pink pinned Southridge’s Marcus Surita in 57 seconds for the 220 title, and Chiawana’s Abzael Loeza made it a local sweep of the big weights with a pin of Pendleton’s PJ Schubert in 3:48.
Othello’s Isaiah Barrera (106), Kamiakin’s Tyler Almaguer (120), Richland’s Pryce Seely (138), Chiawana’s Jadin Salazar (152) and Ki-Be’s Kareem Johnson (160) also won titles.
