Hanford, Othello and Grandview girls all have two regional champs
Hanford, Grandview and Othello each crowned two champions Saturday at the Region 4 Tournament in Spokane.
Othello won the team title with 114 points and will send six to the state tournament Feb. 16-17 at the Tacoma Dome.
Grandview was fourth (62 points), River View sixth (59), Hanford seventh (56) and Kamiakin eighth (43).
In all, the Mid-Columbia will send 22 wrestlers to the state tournament.
Taylor Wilson (100) and Taylor Robbins (120) won titles for Hanford. Wilson, a freshman, beat Nizhoni Tallman of Granger 6-1, while Robbins beat Alicia Stewart of Shadle Park 5-3.
Elizabeth Giles (140) and Victoria Mendez (190) placed first for the Huskies, who also saw Emily Mendez place second at 105.
Maria Reyes (105) and Jasel Perez (130) won titles for Grandview, and will take three to state with Millie Weddle finishing fourth at 125.
River View’s Dempsi Talkington was first at 135, while teammates Lindsey Rojas (130) and Kasye Magana (140) were each third.
Kamiakin senior Sarah Sidibe picked up a regional title at 145 pounds, beating Flora Morrow of Eastmont 4-3 in quadruple overtime.
For Kiona-Benton, first-year wrestler Maloree Calzadillas was second at 155, while teammate Devin Gamez was second at 110.

2A boys regionals
Othello’s Chris Melo (106 pounds) and Isaiah Perez (285) won regional titles at the 2A Region 4 Tournament in Spokane.
The Huskies finished fourth in the team standings and will send six to state.
Melo beat Uriel Garcia of Wapato 8-5 to earn a trip to state.
Perez pinned all three of his opponents on the day. In the finals, he pinned Dietrik Mueller of Pullman in 3:11.
Prosser saw Jacob Torres (113) and Logan Candanoza (160) place second and earn a trip to state.

Connell crowned two champions and finished second at the 1A Region 3 Tournament at Castle Rock High School.
Jonathan Magana (106) and Seer Deines (285) won titles for the Eagles, who will send eight to state.
Host Castle Rock ran away with the team title, Rolling up 250.5 points. Connell was second (194.5), while Royal was third (191).
The Royal Knights, who will send nine to state, had three champions — Dominic Martinez (113), Eduardo Rodriguez (132) and Lorenzo Myrick (152).
Kiona-Benton had one champion — Angel Del Angel (120) — among its four state qualifiers.
