Chiawana errors lead to regional volleyball loss
The University Titans were already a good enough volleyball team. They didn’t need any extra help from the Chiawana Riverhawks.
The Riverhawks, unfortunately, made things a little easier for them in the first round of the Class 4A District 5/8 regional tournament Tuesday in Pasco, committing 23 hitting errors on the day in a 25-21, 25-20, 26-24 season-ending loss.
“We had our opportunities. We had some late runs in the first two sets, and in the third set we gave up three set points,” Chiawana coach Jim Steach said. “The story of the night was those 23 hitting errors. We played hard enough. This was certainly a match I thought we could have won.”
McKaidan Moore led the Riverhawks offense, piling up 16 kills, and Natasha Hill added seven kills and 17 digs.
Rachel Schlect had 17 kills and six blocks to lead University, which will face Mead Saturday in Spokane.
