Richland volleyball takes down Pasco 3-0

Kamry Breard and Lexi Lacey combined for 19 kills, and Tayor Moody and Lainie Lacey teamed up for 40 assists to lift the Richland Bombers to a Mid-Columbia Conference win over the Pasco Bulldogs on Tuesday at Art Dawald Gym in Richland.

“Both teams played really well. There were only a couple of errors in the first two sets,” Richland coach Bob Raidl said after the first two sets were decided by just five points before the Bombers cruised to an easier 25-18 win in the final set.

Catelyn Linke led Pasco with 18 kills, and Victoria Estes chipped in 13 digs.

“(Richland) plays two left-hand hitters, and at this level it’s really hard for high school kids to (adjust),” Pasco coach Jackie Fluaitt said. “I love (Richland’s) volleyball girls. They’re fun to watch.”

Kamiakin 3, Hanford 0: Allison Stapleton had eight kills and two blocks to lead the Braves (2-1) to a road win over the Falcons (1-2).

It’s the second win in a row for Kamiakin, which lost its season opener.

“The girls are playing like a team and working for each other,” Braves coach Morgan Shauble said. “They are doing a good job of supporting each other.”

Southridge 3, Kennewick 0: Makenna Behrens had 13 kills and 21 digs to led the Suns over the visiting Lions.

Maddisen McNeill added nine kills and Kamaile Moody handed out 27 assists for the Southridge (2-1), which will host Richland on Thursday.

Breanna Shaffer led Kennewick (0-3) with 10 kills and 16 digs.

Chiawana 3, Walla Walla 0: McKaidan Moore had 14 kills, and Natasha Hill contributed 13 digs as the Riverhawks swept the host Blue Devils to improve to 3-0 in the MCC.

Grandview 3, Wapato 0: Cassadie Eucker and Suzie Medina combined for 34 digs in the Greyhounds’ nonleague road victory over the Wolves.

Ellensburg 3, Prosser 0: Hannah Lind had five kills and 11 digs, but it wasn’t enough as the Bulldogs handed the host Mustangs (2-1) their first loss in a nonleague match.

River View 3, Connell 1: Dakota Dickinson had nine kills and three aces to lead the Panthers over the visiting Eagles in the SCAC opener for both teams.

“I’m super proud of all of them, but Dakota really stood out tonight,” said River View coach Liz Clark.

Columbia-Burbank 3, Wahluke 0: Jordan O’Connor and Caitlyn Aune combined for 15 kills, and Carissa Gradwohl had 10 service aces to lead the Coyotes to an SCAC East sweep of the Warriors.
