Volleyball roundup: Kamiakin second at Auburn
Kamiakin at Puyallup tournament: Kamiakin went 4-2 in sets during its first three pool-play matches to advance to the top four at the Rogers Tournament in Puyallup on Saturday.
The Braves then went 5-4 in sets against Ferndale, Auburn Riverside and Rogers to finish second. Auburn Riverside was first.
Kamiakin served 91 percent for the tournament. Dani Burke went an impressive 56 of 60 (93.3 percent) from the service line. The Braves also totaled 244 digs and 105 kills at the eight-team tournament.
“It was really nice to play some teams out of Spokane and on the west side,” Kamiakin coach Mary Opitz said. “They’re teams that we may see down the road.”

Grandview Jamboree: The Grandview volleyball team opened its season with victories over East Valley-Yakima (25-16, 25-16, 25-20) and Prosser (25-19, 20-25, 25-17).
Samantha Grove had 16 kills, six digs and four blocks on the day for the Greyhounds. Hannah Pond totaled 12 digs, eight kills and 5.5 blocks, and setter Teagan Parrish finished with eight kills, 14 digs and 27 assists.
Hermiston at Mountain View tournament: The Bulldogs advanced as the top seed in the consolation bracket and lost to Silverton 25-22, 25-17.
Hermiston split its pool games, losing to LaSalle Prep 21-10, 21-10, splitting with Mountain View 21-16, 10-21 and beating Silverton 21-12, 21-20.
Richland jamboree: The host Bombers and Chiawana went 4-1 in the preseason jamboree. Pasco finished 3-2, while Hanford and Kennewick were 2-3. Sunnyside finished 0-5.
