Kamiakin secures top 3A district seed with win over Hanford
Kamiakin cemented its No. 1 seed among the Mid-Columbia Conference’s 3A teams with a 25-20, 25-13, 25-17 home victory over Hanford.
Kamiakin will host the No. 4 seed out of the Greater Spokane League in a loser-out match Saturday.
“We’ll just have to bring our A game,” Kamiakin coach Mary Opitz said. “But not having to travel and playing at home, that’s always a plus.”
Amanda Miller went 21-for-22 serving and finished with 16 kills and 18 digs, while Jessica Edminster contributed 30 assists and 11 digs for Kamiakin, which took some time to get on track against Hanford, Opitz said.

Southridge 3, Kennewick 0: Kylie Fraga had 40 assists and eight digs, and Kimberly Brinkworth finished with 12 kills and went 22-for-23 serving to help the Suns wrap up the MCC 3A’s No. 2 seed with a home win over the Lions.

Michelle Schultz had 10 kills and 20 digs for Connell, while Courtney Colclasure finished with 31 assists and went 10-for-10 serving.

Connell wraps up the regular season tonight at River View. The Eagles will then host the SCAC West’s No. 4 seed next Tuesday.
