Volleyball: Chiawana, Richland remain tied atop Mid-Col standings

Shantelle Hill had 13 digs and 23 kills as Chiawana swept Pasco in Mid-Columbia Conference action Tuesday at Chiawana 28-26, 25-16, 25-15.

Delaney Hodgins added 23 digs, five kills and was 23-of-23 at the service line.

Marisol Diaz’s 38 digs led the Bulldogs.

Chiawana maintains pace with Richland for the top spot in the league, while Pasco is assured of hosting Walla Walla in the first round of the 4A district tournament next week in an elimination contest.

The No. 1 seed is guaranteed a berth to the regional tournament, while the No. 2 seed will be forced to win an elimination match.

Richland 3, Walla Walla 0: Kelly Breard had 10 kills, four digs and two aces to lead the Bombers to a Mid-Columbia Conference road victory.

Richland now controls its own destiny as far as the league title is concerned. If the Bombers beat Hanford on Thursday, they will claim the crown. If they lose, they need Chiawana also to lose to earn a split title.
