Mid-Columbia teams fall in first round at state volleyball
The Mid-Columbia Conference went 0-3 in the first round of the 3A/4A state volleyball tournaments Friday at Toyota Center.
In the 4A tournament, Richland pushed Emerald Ridge to five sets before losing the deciding set 15-10. The Bombers are back on the court at 6:45 p.m. in a loser-out match against Lake Stevens.
Walla Walla, making its first state appearance since 2002, dropped a three-set match to Curtis, but pushed the Vikings every step of the way.
The Blue Devils have a loser-out match at 6:45 p.m. against the loser of the Jackson/Tahoma match — of which Tahoma had taken the first two sets.
In 3A action, Southridge lost in three sets to defending state champion Lakeside. The Suns won the first set of their loser-out match against Snohomish, 25-18.
