Prep girls soccer roundup for Sept. 18: Moses Lake thumps Sunnyside 8-1

Alycia and Stephanie Overland combined for six goals and three assists as the Moses Lake girls soccer team cruised to an 8-1 Big Nine road win over Sunnyside on Thursday.

Nene Milanez scored the lone goal for Sunnyside, while Vanessa Loera had 15 saves.

Othello 1, Selah 1: Tied at the end of regulation, the Huskies and Vikings called it a draw after one Selah player suffered a concussion and two others were hurt during the nonleague game in Othello.

“After all the delays, if we would have gone to overtime and possibly a shootout, it would have been 9 o’clock,” said Othello coach Bernie Garza, whose team is 3-0-1. “When you tie a team like Selah, it’s a win. They are a good team. We are fortunate to have a good defense and only gave up one goal.”

“We went back and forth with them. We had several opportunities in front of the goal but were just off by a hair,” Ki-Be coach Marty Martinez said.
