KAMIAKIN 1, SOUTHRIDGE 0 (SO): The Braves beat the Suns 4-2 in a shootout Saturday at Lampson Stadium to stay alive for the District 5/8 tournament.
Kamiakin (5-12) will play Greater Spokane League No. 1 Mt. Spokane in an elimination game at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Spokane Falls Community College.
Against Southridge, the Braves got shootout goals from Jose Anguiano, Ty Wallin, Conner Durham and Erik Farfan to eke out the win.
“It was obviously a big game because it was a loser-out game and a big rivalry,” said Kamiakin coach Jeff Bennett. “We were really fortunate to come out on top in the shootout. Southridge did a good job defending and we weren’t able to put anything away.”
Junior Riley Shulman had 12 saves in posting his second shutout of the season for the Braves.

Othello 3, Ellensburg 2 (SO): Angel Rangel made three saves in a shootout to help the host Huskies eliminate the Bulldogs and advance to the District 5/6 semifinals.
Rangel made 11 saves during regulation and overtime, and then came up with three more when his team needed them the most.
“I don’t think he stopped a PK shot all year,” Othello coach Bernie Garza said.
Ellensburg jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first 20 minutes, but Khristian Herrera got one back in the 29th on an assist from Jason Rodriguez.
The Huskies then tied it as Hugo Martinez scored on a penalty kick after a handball in the box.

Wahluke 2, Mabton 0: The Warriors paid tribute to assistant coach Geir Dalan, who passed away Friday after a battle with cancer, by releasing white balloons into the sky before winning a first-round Class 1A District 5 elimination game in Mattawa.
“It was pretty emotional for the kids. We have kind of a goal,” Wahluke coach Arthur deVictoria said of his longtime assistant of seven years.
Warriors forward Ramon Bravo scored twice, and goalkeeper Alan Caro made four saves to record the shutout.
Wahluke will travel to Granger at 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Royal will play at top seed Highland at 4 p.m. Tuesday in a semifinal, with the winner locking up a state berth.
