Kamiakin’s Valladares named WIAA Athlete of the Week

For scoring a goal in regulation and assisting the game-winning score in a 2-1 Class 3A quarterfinal victory over Lakeside (Seattle), Kamiakin high school girls soccer player Aaliyah Valladares was named a WIAA Athlete of the Week, the association announced Wednesday.

The senior midfielder led the MCC with 18 assists during the regular season and added six goals. She was named to the All-Conference first team.

The Braves (19-0) will face Mercer Island in the state semifinals at 2 p.m. Friday at Sparks Stadium in Puyallup. Win or lose, they will play again Saturday, against either Mercer Island or Bellevue.
