Mid-Columbia soccer players selected to all-state teams

Several Mid-Columbia players were named to the Washington State Soccer Coaches Association Spring 2017 All-State Soccer Teams that were announced Tuesday.

At the 4A level, Pasco’s Jesus Meraz Rodriguez was named a first-team forward, while teammates David Uribe and Edwin Aquino were selected as second-team midfielders, and Sergio Avalos was named an honorable mention defender.

Kamiakin’s Isaiah Arechiga (forward) and Andrew Scrimsher (defender) were first-team picks at the 3A level, while Kennewick’s Jason Cortes was a first-team defender and Eddie Castillo a second-team forward.

Honorable mention honors went to midfielder David Ramirez of Southridge.

At the 1A level, Wahluke’s Emmanuel Hidalgo (forward), Alonso Perez (defender) and Ulysses Gonzalez (goalie) were first-team picks, as was Royal’s Michael Rojas (midfielder).

On the second team were Connell’s Luis Ramos (defender) and Royal’s Abel Dominguez (defender).

Honorable mention honors went to Wahluke’s Tony Espinoza (forward) and Connell’s Alexis Ayuso (forward).
