Hermiston hoopsters rout Bend in state consolation game
The Hermiston Bulldogs will play for fourth place at the Oregon 5A girls state basketball tournament.
Hermiston (23-4) advanced with a 53-26 win over Bend (16-9) on Thursday in Corvallis. The Bulldogs will face Marist Catholic (17-10) at 9 a.m. Saturday at Oregon State University’s Gill Coliseum.
Hermiston jumped out to a 19-9 lead in the first quarter against Bend. Both teams struggled offensively in the second, scoring a combined six points, but the Bulldogs outscored the Lava Bears 32-13 after halftime.
Maddy Juul and Jansen Edmiston each had 11 points for Hermiston, and Kynzee Padilla grabbed 11 rebounds.
