Kennewick girls top Walla Walla 53-47

Kennewick erased a 40-36 deficit after three quarters to rally for a 53-47 home victory Saturday over Walla Walla in Mid-Columbia Conference action.

The Lions (3-5) outscored the Blue Devils (5-2) 17-7 in the fourth quarter to end a two-game skid.

“I’m very proud of how we played. We made good adjustments on defense, and we’ve been on a tear with rebounds. We had three girls (Fiander, Norwood, Bianca Chavez) with 10 rebounds tonight,” Kennewick coach Ashley Williams said. “Our team just held it together. We showed great poise, passing it around and getting stops.”

Aspen Fiander had a season-high 17 points for Kennewick, to go along with seven rebounds. Jayln Norwood added 12 points, 11 rebounds and three assists.

SUNNYSIDE 60, WENATCHEE 45: Ashley Maldonado scored 18 points and had five rebounds, and the Grizzlies used a strong fourth quarter to hold off the visiting Panthers.
