Southridge girls chop down Rams
The Southridge girls basketball team may not have the size to measure up to West Valley, giving up several inches to the Columbia Basin Big Nine Conference contenders.
But the size of the Suns’ collective hearts was a different story Saturday night, as Southridge overcame an 11-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat West Valley 40-39 in Kennewick.
“I don’t know how we won this thing. We just made plays down the stretch. They’re averaging in the 60s, and we held them to 39,” Suns coach Mike Conner said.
Jaid Harris scored 10 of her 11 points in the fourth quarter, including two clutch 3-pointers, and Haley Thomas recorded one of her six steals during the decisive frame for Southridge (4-3).
“We played really well down the stretch,” Conner said.
Shyler Sullivan paced the Suns with 14 points, including a pair of 3-pointers, and Ellie Smith had 10 rebounds.
