Saturday prep girls basketball: Kamiakin holds off Southridge
Kiley Larsen scored 15 points, while Symone Brown and Jayden Williams added 11 points each, as host Kamiakin had little trouble with Southridge in a 52-40 Mid-Columbia Conference girls basketball victory on Saturday night.
“We’ve been pretty balanced all year long (in scoring),” said Kamiakin coach Lane Schumacher. “We just couldn’t make a free throw to save our life tonight. We were 6 for 20 from the line.”
The Braves improve to 2-0 in MCC play (5-2 overall), while the Suns fall to 1-1 MCC, 3-3 overall.

KENNEWICK 58, PASCO 46: Ashton Fiander led the Lions with 14 points, but it was Kennewick’s defense on Bulldogs guard Jalayne Martinez that made the difference in an MCC home win.
“We decided to face-guard her. We just kept one player on her the whole night. We didn’t let her hardly even touch the ball,” Lions coach Ashley Williams said. “We played excellent defense in the third quarter (allowing just two Pasco points).”

In a win over River View on Friday night, Turner hit 7 of 12 shots for 15 points, giving her a 73 percent field goal percentage and 43 points over the weekend games. Heather Hawkins led Connell with 16 points.
