Mid-Columbia basketball update. These Tri-Cities teams are still in playoff contention

Chiawana’s boys stayed alive in the District 8 tournament this week, beating Mead 84-69.

Taylor Perez had 24 points and Jayden Martinez added 20 points and 7 rebounds for the Riverhawks, who will play Ferris in a loser-out game at 5:45 p.m. Friday in the Toyota Center.

Ferris beat Walla Walla 65-62. Michael Cornia scored 27 points for the Blue Devils, who saw their season end.

Talia von Oelhoffen scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Chiawana girls over Pasco 53-42 in a girls loser-out game Tuesday.

Kylie Thorne added 13 points and 11 rebounds for the Riverhawks, who will play University at 4 p.m. Friday in the Toyota Center in an elimination game.

A’niyah Heavens led Pasco with 13 points and 5 rebounds. The Bulldogs’ season ended.

Haden Hicks scored 29 points to lead Prosser’s boys over Ephrata 75-52 in a loser-out game Tuesday in the CWAC district tournament.

Prosser plays East Valley at 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Yakima Valley SunDome to determine third and fourth place. The Mustangs will have a glue crossover game with a Great Northern League team on Saturday to determine a 2A state regional berth.

Halle Wright scored 17 points to lead the Prosser girls over Grandview 41-34 in a loser-out game Tuesday night in the CWAC district tournament.

With the win, Prosser played Toppenish at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Yakima Valley SunDome for third and fourth place.

The Mustangs will have a glue crossover game with a Great Northern League team on Saturday to determine a 2A state regional berth.

Royal’s boys edged Kiona-Benton 59-58 in a loser-out contest Tuesday at Wahluke High School in the 1A SCAC district tournament.

The Knights will now play La Salle at 3:45 p.m. Saturday for the third and final state regional berth. The game will be played at River View High School.

2B EWAC basketball

The Tri-Cities Prep girls beat Columbia-Burbank 37-29 in the Eastern Washington Athletic Conference championship game at Granger High School this week.

White Swan beat Mabton 57-51 for third and fourth place.

All four teams will play crossover games with Central Washington 2B teams on Saturday, Feb. 22, to determine state regional playoff qualifiers.

On the boys’ side, Columbia-Burbank beat Liberty Christian 61-48 in the third-fourth place EWAC game.

Kittitas won the boys championship, topping White Swan 62-60.

All four teams will play crossover games with Central Washington 2B teams on Saturday, Feb. 22, to determine state regional playoff qualifiers..
