Basketball: Gutierrez’s buzzer-beater lifts Pasco over Lake City
PASCO 67, LAKE CITY 64: Diego Gutierrez hit a 3-point shot at the buzzer to lead the Bulldogs to a nonleague road win over the Timberwolves.
Gutierrez inbounded the ball to Emilio Davila, who in turn gave the ball back to Gutierrez on the baseline, where he sank his game-winning shot.
Gutierrez led Pasco with 19 points, while Moises Cuevas added 13 and Kashon Tate 10, including three 3-pointers.

DAVIS 57, KAMIAKIN 55: The Braves had a 10-point lead early in the third quarter, but came up just short in the nonleague contest.
Champ Grayson led Kamiakin (1-2) with 17 points, five assists and nine rebounds, and Garrett Paxton had 16 points despite a rough 1-for-10 effort from deep. Collin Kelley had a game-high 26 points for Davis and Alexzander Delgado added 15 points and four assists.
Davis (2-1) went up by nine midway through the fourth, but Kamiakin chipped its way back to trail by two with the final possession. Robert Pischel had a 3-pointer at the buzzer that would have won it, but the shot rattled out.
HERMISTON 76, CHIAWANA 67: Cesar Ortiz had 22 points as the host Bulldogs held off the Riverhawks in a nonleague contest.
Taylor Kroll and Matthew Kroner each had 17 points for Chiawana, which trailed 38-28 at halftime. Kroll knocked down a game-high five 3-pointers on just seven attempts.
Chiawana dominated on the boards, out-rebounding Hermiston 33-23, but the Bulldogs won it with efficient shooting, going 25 of 43 (58 percent) from the field.
WALLA WALLA 54, PENDLETON 37: The Blue Devils used a 25-9 run in the second half to pull away for the nonleague road win against the Buckaroos.
Wa-Hi led 29-28 at the half after a back-and-forth first half.
Tyler Greene led the Blue Devils with 15 points, while Dylan Sullivan added 12. Tyler Newsome led Pendleton with 15 points.
PROSSER 65, QUINCY 39: Andre Vanguardia had 14 points, and Chase Courtney 12 as the Mustangs topped the visiting Jackrabbits.
“At times we look really good, and others really bad,” Prosser coach Toby Cox said. “I am happy with the progress we are making and the effort the boys are putting out.”
KIONA-BENTON 70, GRANGER 59: The Bears went on a 27-12 run in the fourth quarter to rally for a home victory over the Spartans.
Ki-Be (2-1) trailed 34-26 at the half, and 47-43 after the third quarter.
Abe Rheinschmidt scored nine points in the fourth for Ki-Be, while Alex Maya made seven free throws. Daniel Rizin led the Bears with 19 points.
COLUMBIA-BURBANK 64, HIGHLAND 32: Reece Humphreys scored 10 of his game-high 19 points in the second half to lead the Coyotes to a home win over the Scotties.
Lincoln Hakala led Highland with 11 points.
RIVER VIEW 68, GOLDENDALE 27: Darin Roberts’ 27 points were nearly all that the Panthers needed in a home win over the Timberwolves.
Goldendale put up a fight early on, trailing 19-12 after the first quarter, but a 20-0 run by River View in the fourth quarter helped seal the win.
John Sailor added 12 points and 11 rebounds for the Panthers.
GIRLS
CHIAWANA 58, HERMISTON 43: Kenedy Cartwright knocked down four 3-pointers for a game-high 20 points and also had seven steals to lead the visiting Riverhawks to a nonleague win.
Clare Eubanks added 15 points for Chiawana (3-1), which took a 12-point lead into the intermission after winning the second quarter 18-6.
Jordan Thomas led Hermiston with 12 points and Hannah Thompson knocked down 3 of 6 3-pointers for the Bulldogs (1-4).
KAMIAKIN 70, DAVIS 36: Oumou Toure eclipsed the 100-point mark for the season with a game-high 26 as the host Braves continued their early season dominance, toppling the Pirates in a nonleague matchup.
Chanceler Williams added 15 points for the Braves (4-0) and Alexa Hazel 14.
Kamiakin’s opportunistic defense held Davis (0-3) to just seven points in the second quarter and six in the third, and didn’t allow a Pirate to score 10 points or more. Drew Billups had a team-high nine points.
LEWIS AND CLARK 61, RICHLAND 56: Tarynn Webb scored 12 points and Nicole Gall 11, but the visiting Bombers (2-2) faltered down the stretch in a nonleague loss.
Anna Reeves scored a game-high 16 points for LC (2-3), which outscored Richland 17-6 in the fourth quarter after trailing 50-44 entering the period.
PROSSER 67, QUINCY 21: Marissa Cortes had 21 points, including five 3-pointers, to lead the Mustangs to a home win over the Jackrabbits.
Prosser held Quincy to just two points in the second quarter, and three in the fourth.
Madison Golden added 11 points and 19 rebounds for the Mustangs, who saw every player but one score.
GRANGER 47, KIONA-BENTON 25: Nya Calzadillas had nine points, but the Bears did not have much else in a home loss to the Spartans.
Ki-Be trailed 22-14 at the half, but Granger turned up the pressure in the second half with a 25-11 run.
Lily Stewart led Granger with 20 points.
COLUMBIA-BURBANK 56, HIGHLAND 27: Jadyn Johnson scored a game-high 14 points to lead the Coyotes to a home win over the Scotties.
Burbank rolled to a 21-6 lead after the first quarter and never looked back.
Shelbie Johnson and Aide Contreras added eight points each for the Coyotes.
RIVER VIEW 60, GOLDENDALE 35: Aaliyah Anderson had 20 points, and Morgan Munson added 14 as the Panthers cruised a home win over the Timberwolves.
Trista Lechelt added eight rebounds and Teresa Rojas five steals for River View, which led 34-18 at the half.
