Roundup: Hanford Flames split games at Yakima tournament

The Hanford Flames split their games at the Bob Garretson Sr. Memorial Tournament in Yakima, dropping a 9-5 game to Nampa (Idaho), then beating Bellingham Post 7, 5-4.

In the opener, Nampa had a 2-0 lead through three innings, but a three-run homer from No. 8 hitter Skylver Penrod extended the lead to 5-0.

The Flames scored all five of their runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Sawyer Henry struck out six in three innings of relief work against Bellingham, while Taylor Lindquist went 2-for-3.

Hanford, 2-1 in the wood bat tournament, plays the Yakima Beetles at 8 p.m. today.

High Desert Classic

The Kennewick Wolfpack posted two victories at the High Desert Classic in Ephrata, beating the host Columbia Basin River Dogs 22-9 and Lakeside 10-9.

In the opener, Ryan Vela went 3-for-4 with five RBIs, while Skyler Morby drove in three runs.

Against Lakeside, Kennewick trailed 9-5 heading into the bottom of the seventh inning, where it rallied for five runs for the win. Brodie Samples drove in the winning run with a two-out single that scored Andrew Marble.

Ed McNamara Tournament

The Southridge Bandits AA won both of their games at the Ed McNamara Memorial Tournament in Moses Lake, handing Bellingham Post 7 a 14-2 loss, then beat Lakeside Recovery 5-4 in eight innings.

In the opener, Ryan Sanders struck out four in five innings of work, while Tate Spivey had two doubles and three RBIs.

Against Lakeside, the Bandits got the go-ahead run from Derek Doyle in the top of the eighth, then Bryton DeVoir put the winning run across the plate with an RBI double.

Central Washington League

The Yakima Pepsi Pak handed the Pasco Sun Devils a pair of losses in CWL action Thursday night.

Yakima, which improved to 22-1, got three doubles and four RBIs from Ryan Ross in the opener. Trent Thornhill had a triple and three RBIs for Pasco (1-13).

In the nightcap, Spencer Bennion hit a two-run home run for Pasco.
