Roundup: Hanford Flames open tourney with win

The Hanford Flames opened the Yakima Bob Garretson American Legion Tournament on Thursday with an 8-4 victory over the Seattle U18 Tide.

Chase Becker and Ryan Nix combined on a five-hitter and walked just three batters. Anthony Porcaro and McKaden Manderbach each drove in two runs.

Today, the Flames continue tournament play against Nampa (Idaho) and Bellingham Post 7 at Davis High School.

On Wednesday, the Flames swept the Yakima Beetles 9-7 and 12-10 at Parker Field in Yakima.

Porcaro drove in three runs in the opener, while Ryan Colson drove in three runs in the nightcap.

AA Legion

The AA Richland Knights lost a third close game in two days, falling to Mt. Spokane 2-1 in a tournament in Selah.

Alex Chapman pitched into the seventh for the Knights before Garrett Guffey closed out. Cade Musick went 2-for-3.

On Wednesday, the Knights lost a pair of league games to the Kennewick Phantoms, 3-2 and 9-7. Dylan Wirtzberger went 3-for-4 for Richland in the second game.

Senior Babe Ruth

The Kennewick Wolfpack had three timely hits and took advantage of six walks to hand the Benton City Bears a 7-5 loss in the opener of their Three Rivers Senior Babe Ruth League twinbill in Benton City.

Jake Ebberts struck out nine and Skyler Morby had a double and two RBIs.

In the nightcap, Andrew Marble struck out six as the Wolfpack (9-6, 6-5 league) overcame a slow start for a 4-1 in.
