Shadle Park baseball ends Southridge's season
Shadle Park's Brett Rypien drew a bases loaded, game-winning walk in the bottom of the 12th inning, ending the Southridge Suns’ upset chances in a Class 3A District 5/8 baseball elimination game in Spokane on Tuesday.
Southridge, the No. 3 seed out of the MCC, held a 3-1 lead heading into the bottom of the seventh before allowing two runs.
They played the GSL No. 2 to a standstill, but couldn’t complete the upset.
“Every inning the pitching got better and the defense got better,” Southridge coach Tim Sanders said. “It was a great battle for 12 innings. It was a good baseball game. Unfortunately we came out on the wrong end of it. But it was definitely a battle.”
Connor Morfin struck out six in seven innings, while Austen Morfin was 2-for-5 with a double.
