Hanford baseball routs University

Jacob Anderson pitched five strong innings and Anthony Porcaro and Brady Heid each drove in two runs as the Hanford Falcons shutout University 10-0 on Tuesday in a District 5/8 loser-out game in Richland.

Hanford (18-3) will play Mt. Spokane at 10 a.m. Saturday at Roy Johnson Field in Kennewick in the District 5/8 semifinals.

University finished its season at 5-14.

The Falcons opened the game with three runs in the first and finished with five runs in the fifth — two off a two-run double by Heid — to end the game via the 10-run rule.

Anderson (9-1) scattered five hits and struck out two, while Porcaro went 3-for-3.

“He made them swing the bats,” said Hanford coach Tom DeWitz. “Anthony (Porcaro) has been hot lately. He has swung the bat well the last couple of weeks.”

Of Hanford’s 10 hits, four were doubles by McKaden Manderbach, Heid, Aaron Enderlin and Jamie Hopp.
