Baseball: Stanfield sweeps Nyssa to win Eastern Oregon title
Stanfield 10-8, Nyssa 4-2: Bryce Linker was 4-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the nightcap, after allowing two earned runs on five hits with two walks and 10 strikeouts in the opener, as the Tigers won the Class 3A Eastern Oregon League title with a sweep of the Bulldogs.
In what was supposed to be a reloading year, Stanfield started four freshman and survived a move up in classification to win the league title.
“We are really happy,” Stanfield coach Brian Johnson said. “Pretty neat for our kids to win the league title.”
