Walla Walla baseball earns MCC sweep in Pasco

Ryan Kimball allowed just three hits in a complete game win in the opener, and Reid Magnaghi drove in four runs in the nightcap to lift Walla Walla to a 12-2, 10-3 Mid-Columbia Conference sweep in Pasco on Friday.

Ali Buentello led a strong day for the Wa-Hi offense, collecting five hits and three doubles.

Brady Ritala and Kolby Killoy led Pasco with a triple apiece.

Richland 7-6, Chiawana 5-8: Brayde Hirai helped the Riverhawks salvage an MCC doubleheader split with Richland, pitching four innings and going 3-for-4 with two RBIs in a Game 2 win.

The Bombers won the opener thanks to a pair of home runs by Mitch Piper and Hunter Chambers.

Spencer Bennion added five hits on the day for Chiawana.

Kennewick 15-18, Southridge 6-1: Josh Kutzke went 5-for-7 on the day with a pair of doubles and two home runs to lead the Lions to an MCC doubleheader sweep of the visiting Suns.

“Kutzke had been struggling just a little at the plate, but he broke out for us,” Kennewick coach A.J. Marquart said. “We squared up the ball 1-through-9.”

Dylan Wilbert also had a fine day, homering in both games, including a 6-RBI effort in Game 2.
