Ayres pitches Bandits into Bash semifinals

Clayten Ayres tossed a two-hit shutout as the Kennewick Bandits beat the Twin City Titans 4-0 on Saturday in a Bandit Bash contest at Roy Johnson Field.

Dillon Wilbert had two doubles for the Bandits, who are 4-0 in their own tournament.

The Bandits also beat Spokane Baseball 6-2, as starter Jarrod Molnaa scattered five hits in the win.

Ayres was 3-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Kennewick will be the first-place seed and play the Hanford Flames at noon today at Roy Johnson Field in a semifinal. In the other semifinal, Twin City will face the Spokane Baseball Club at noon at Hanford High.

The tournament championship is set for 3 p.m. today at Roy Johnson.Over at Hanford High, Finn McMichael drove in three runs as the Hanford Flames beat the Spokane North Stars 10-4.

McMichael had four stolen bases in Hanford’s 6-5 win over the Yakima Rattlers.

And in the final game, Nate Ruane had two hits and scored four times as the Twin City Titans defeated the Yakima Rattlers 8-2.

Hanford A Flames 4, Lakeside Recovery 3: Dylan Rice and Tucker Anderson scored runs in the sixth inning to give Hanford’s A Flames the lead for good in a victory over Lakeside Recovery at the Walla Walla Griz Tournament.

Rice and Robert Young combined to scatter five hits for the Flames, who are 3-0 in the tournament.

Hanford won 11-1 over the Caldwell Cubs of Idaho and 10-6 over the University Titans of Spokane in earlier contests, and the Flames are set to play in the championship today.
