Christian Elgi and Alex Sotelo scored for Kamiakin, giving the Braves a 2-0 win over Kennewick in Mid-Columbia Conference soccer at Lampson Stadium on Tuesday.

Marco Covarrubias made six saves in goal for the Braves, who outshot the Lions 7-5.

PASCO 2, SOUTHRIDGE 1: After a scoreless first half, the two teams traded penalty kicks before Oscar Cortez struck home for the Bulldogs during stoppage time in the MCC contest.

Pasco’s Jesus Meraz-Rodriguez and Southridge’s Jorge Mendez converted the PKs.

“It was a good game,” Bulldogs coach Matt Potter said. “Southridge played very well. It was a good, back-and-forth game.”

Baseball

KIONA-BENTON 19-17, RIVER VIEW 0-0: Trey Manson homered and drove in five runs in the opener, while Darrel Wheeler hit a home run and drove in three runs in the nightcap as the Bears swept the Panthers in the SCAC East opener for both teams.

Nate Rossine pitched the first game, scattering four hits while striking out eight. Caleb Thompson threw three innings of the second game, striking out nine.

Softball

WALLA WALLA 16, KAMIAKIN 2 (5): The Blue Devils overpowered the rebuilding Braves at Lawrence Scott Park in the Mid-Columbia Conference opener for both teams.

Walla Walla scored three runs on a first-inning error. The Blue Devils then exploded for 10 runs in the third.

Kamryn Coleman and Meghan Yenney each went 2-for-3 to lead the Blue Devils (6-0), while Tara Krivoshein drove in three runs. Coleman, Brandi Schoessler and Jax Conklin combined to pitch a three-hitter against Kamiakin (0-6).

Andria Skeels had a double and an RBI for the Braves.

Christian Matheson scored six goals to help Richland beat host Camas 14-7 on Saturday for its third win of the season. Richland was to play Tuesday at Southridge.
