Kennewick tops Hermiston 15-5 in baseball

Charlie Dewitt went 4-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs, Trent Sellers doubled and drove in two more, and the Kennewick Lions downed the Hermiston Bulldogs 15-5 in five innings of nonleague baseball Friday afternoon at Roy Johnson Field.

The Lions settled down after a rough first half inning. The Bulldogs jumped out with a five-run first thanks to a couple walks, a couple hit batters and a couple errors.

Gerald Hein and Sebian Green combined on a two-hitter over five innings for Kennewick.

Easton Henke threw three strong innings for Kamiakin, and Mike Jones doubled and stole two bases.

CHIAWANA 2-8, POST FALLS 0-5: Andrew Vargas pitched seven sharp innings to lead the Riverhawks to a win in the opener of a nonleague doubleheader against the Trojans.

Troy Simpkins and Miguel Barragan each hit a double for Chiawana.

In the second game, Simpkins and Brayden Childs drove in runs as the Riverhawks completed the sweep.

Rachel Dorn threw seven innings of five-hit ball, striking out 11 and walking two.
