Richland’s Palm, Southridge girls top first MCC golf pod

Richland’s Danika Palm shot a 5-over-par 77 to edge Kamiakin’s Alexa Clark and Southridge Samantha Hui by a stroke at Walla Walla Veterans Memorial on Monday in the first pod match of the Mid-Columbia Conference season.
Pasco’s Jalayne Martinez was another shot back in fourth place. Southridge freshman Therese Warner rounded out the top five with an 82.
Southridge’s Meridith Hibbard shot an 86 to finish seventh, giving the Suns three top-10 finishers en route to first place in the team race by six strokes over Kamiakin. The Braves’ Brianna Esvelt shot 90 to also crack the top 10.
The next MCC pod is April 13 at Canyon Lakes.
