State basketball roundup: Columbia-Burbank girls fall into 1A consolation bracket
The Columbia-Burbank girls basketball team will play Friday to stay alive in the Class 1A Hardwood Classic in Yakima.
The Coyotes fell to defending 1A state champion King’s of Seattle 53-35 in Thursday’s quarterfinal at the Yakima Valley SunDome.
Making its first state appearance in Yakima since 2009, Columbia-Burbank was outscored 32-15 over the second and third quarters.
Taylor Turner finished with 13 points for the Coyotes (20-6).
Columbia-Burbank will play an elimination game at 12:15 p.m. Friday against fellow SCAC team Zillah. The winner moves on to the fourth/sixth-place game at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.

MABTON GIRLS 54, TOUTLE LAKE 45: The Vikings came back from a 20-3 first-quarter deficit to beat the Ducks and advance to the 2B semifinals in Spokane.
Mabton (22-3) will play defending champion Okanogan at 5:30 p.m. Friday at Spokane Arena for a spot in Saturday’s title game. Wahkiakum and Napavine will meet in the other semifinal at 3:45 p.m.
Soila Zaragoza had 21 points for Mabton, which held Toutle Lake to 32 percent shooting (8-for-25) from the field in the second half. The Vikings shot 50 percent (13-for-26) after halftime.

SUNNYSIDE CHRISTIAN GIRLS 65, TULALIP HERITAGE 31: The Knights advanced to the 1B semifinals at Spokane Arena.
Sunnyside Christian (25-0) will play seven-time defending state champion Colton at 7:15 p.m. Friday for a berth in Saturday night’s title game.
Colton beat Sunnyside Christian in the final in 2013 and 2015.
SUNNYSIDE CHRISTIAN BOYS 64, GARFIELD-PALOUSE 56: Luke Wagenaar scored 20 points to lead the Knights to a win in the 1B quarterfinals in Spokane.
Sunnyside Christian, which trailed by two at halftime, outscored Gar-Pal 38-28 in the second half.
The Knights (22-5) will face Neah Bay at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the semifinals at Spokane Arena, while Yakama Tribal and undefeated Almira/Coulee-Hartline meet at 5:30 p.m.
