BOYS WRESTLING
CHIAWANA 37, WALLA WALLA 30: Morgan McFee’s 4-0 win over McKinley Hudiburg at 106 pounds may not have been the most dominant outcome on the night for the Riverhawks, but it was the one that finally put the Blue Devils away in the MCC dual.
Wa-Hi won three of the first four matches, including Robert Gonzalez’s pin at 113 in the first match of the night, before Chiawana stormed back and took the lead on Bobby Kasma’s 19-4 technical fall at 145.
The Riverhawks extended their margin to 25-12 on Bryce Buckley’s major decision at 152 and Cory Johnson’s pin at 160. But pins from Andrew Granchukoff at 170 and Ely Kimball at 182 brought the Blue Devils to within a point.
The lead had grown back to four when McFee took the mat in the final match. Needing to avoid giving up a major decision, he instead got the win.
