Southridge wrestlers take second at Grandview Winter Classic
Southridge took second at the 13-team Grandview Winter Classic on Saturday, as 10 Suns wrestlers took home top-four finishes.
Zayid Al-Ghani won the 170-pound division and was named the tourney’s outstanding wrestler. Cesar Flores also took home an individual title at 132 pounds, while Clayton Detmer was a runner-up at 138.
Prep basketball
Hogan Jones and Stephan Giest combined for 32 points, while Trent Mercado and Bennett Pederson netted 12 points apiece to lead Tri-Cities Prep to a 75-68 road win over Walla Walla Valley Academy on Saturday night. Zane Browning led the Knights with 32 points.
On Friday night, Prep got 12 points from Giest but fell to host Waitsburg, who was led by Kyle Gradwohl’s 20 points.
