Kamiakin’s Schauble named to track coaches hall of fame

Longtime Kamiakin track and field coach Cheryl Schauble has been named to the Washington State Track & Field Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Schauble, who has coached the girls team to four consecutive state titles, will be inducted during a Jan. 16 ceremony at the Everett Holiday Inn.

She has coached at all three Kennewick high schools but has spent 26 years as head coach at Kamiakin. The Braves have won the past four Class 3A state championships — they are unbeaten in all meets over those four seasons — and six state titles overall. The Braves have finished top four in the state 16 times under Schauble.
